My Final Thoughts on U by Kotex #kotexmom

Before I signed on to be a U by Kotex Tween ambassador or “Kotex Mom”, I never really grasped how much the subject would hit home. Or how scared I was to even have the talk with my 9 year old daughter. I KNEW it was time but was scared that after the talk, she would not be the same young innocent little girl.

I was glad to be proved wrong, because she still loves her animals and still pretends. She is still my little girl but for us. it was so important to have the discussion in case she was unlucky enough to start puberty early. I had to get her the basics in case it happens and I am not around, because she would have been very frightened had we not had the talk.

I think my most favorite part of the last 6 months in the ambassador program was that through having that talk with my daughter, we actually grew closer. Normally a tomboy, my daughter is usually off playing video games or playing with her brothers. She seems to like to hang out with me more. She still thinks boys are disgusting and that is completely fine with me and her dad. But I do enjoy talking about fashion and girly things. She even let me try a tutu that I made on her :)

I was also glad to have tools to help the talk, both physically with actual U by Kotex Tween products and virtually, by the informative website that we both visited together to see what questions other girls were asking and to watch the videos of the girls telling stories about their first periods. It was helpful to me to listen so I could talk to my own daughter on her level.

I can’t believe how scared I was to talk to my daughter, my friends can attest that I did NOT want to for fear of ruining her happy childhood. But that girl took it like a champ and was back to being silly within minutes. Mission Accomplished!

I wrote this review while participating in a Brand Ambassador Campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of U by Kotex Tween and received products to facilitate my post and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
