College Semester #3 Coming Soon!

By · 2 Comments

Gray's AnatomyOne year ago I was gearing up for my first semester of college. It was all online but I had to take my tests at the college. It was a little hard to get all the reading done but I was also a blogger who had just begun to do reivews and giveaways. And now today at the pace and scale I do giveaways and reviews it leaves little time for much else. Good thing I am on break! As my summer event comes to a close I realize I am closer to heading back to school. Last semester was pretty hard. Photography was an easy 4.0. When you study your passion its easy to succeed. The hybrid biology was hit or miss. I did well on all the assignments and lab stuff but quizzes and tests I didn’t do well on because to be honest, the teacher tested us on stuff that she didn’t tell us to concentrate on. We really had to teach ourselves and unless you are fresh out of high school, re-learning biology on your own at age 32 is not something I would recommend!  Now math? Anyone who knows me and this blog knows I loathe math with a fury. And I failed it miserably. I should NOT have taken it online. I skipped the final and because of that she gave me a 0.0. I should have fought it but I would have had maybe 1.0 in the end. I did some work and did all the tests but the last one. Oh well.

This semester’s lineup:

Math – Intro and Intermediate Algebra. This is a retake and I have to pass this one with a decent working knowledge because I have one more math class in the Spring. I know about half of this course so taking it might be easier. Classes are Tues and Thurs, 12:10-2:00 PM. Bonus is I already have the book and the calculator so I save over $200!

Bakery Production – I think this program is brand new to the college. LCC is known for two things in Michigan, one is the best photography program in the state and the other is the culinary program. Both excellent. This class teaches you how to make breads and desserts etc and portion and plate them like you would see in a bakery. Photography and baking are passions of mine and to be able to do both as a hobby is something I would love to do. This class should help. I have to ask them if I can take my camera in the class though. Class is Thurs. 2:10-7 PM

Anatomy – Now there are some programs out there that let you take physiology and anatomy together and its short. Not my program. We have to take the semester long classes separate. And I have to 2.0 this class to get into the physiology next semester. But you know what? I AWAS BORN FOR THIS! I have been doing the stupid pre-requisite classes just to get into my radiology program. I have been waiting for THIS class. I am sure I am going to LOVE LOVE LOVE this class. I love anatomy and the human body and all things medical. Drawback? Class is hybrid :( Its the only way I could take it though. I meet weds night at school for lab and the rest is hybrid. I am excited though!

The hours are rough this semester but my baking class gets out a month early so its only 12 weeks. But Thursday I have to be in classes from 12:10 – 7 Pm with just ten minutes between classes. I will have to figure out how I am going to eat. I am sure the baking class will have breaks and hopefully when Greg is out of his class at 5 pm that day we can meet for a few minutes. Another craptastic one is that on Tuesdays I have to wake up early with Greg because we have to carpool and his class is at 9. Mine doesn’t start until noon. We’ll get through it though. Its just temporary. Hopefully the time slots will be better next semester! I have to say I am glad I am allowed to take an interest class each semester, its nice to not have to be under pressure in all the classes!

  1. That bakery production class sounds so so cool!! Good luck with everything. I’d love to go back to school at some point, but I know I wouldn’t do well. I can’t sit still, and online courses and me don’t get along so well. I tried it once and got my first D ever!

Online courses are really hard if you are not self motivated and easily distracted (hello, blogging lol) and I failed my algebra last semester because of it :(
