I was recently chosen as one of only 25 bloggers to try new flavors of Saucy Mama mustards and create a unique recipe. I had to make an appetizer and it had to have BACON! And of course the mustard. I chose to use the Hatched Chili mustard as the main flavor. It didn’t take me long to decide on what I wanted, and that was a couple of delicious bacon wrapped shrimp. With the saucy addition, it made a powerful impact! I made a super easy recipe that will make a good 14-15 shrimp, depending on size. Heck if you used jumbo shrimp that would be one very good appetizer! I prefer these with no sauce but didn’t want to not offer SOMETHING so I added another Saucy Mama Flavor, the Dill!
Grilled Hatch Chili Mustard Coated Bacon Wrapped Shrimp with Dill Mustard Dip
1 pkg bacon
20 raw shrimp, peeled and de-veined
Warm up your grill… not too hot, unless you like your bacon very crispy like me…
Squeeze about 1/4-1/3 Cup of the mustard in a bowl, and add the shrimp, using your hands to coat the shrimp
Roll your shrimp up inside the bacon taking care not to rub off that tasty mustard! Using a skewer (mine are metal) place rolls on the skewer with the end piece facing toward the point, to keep them in place.
Place on warm grill and cook each side for two minutes. You have to watch your bacon, it will make your fire sassy so low heat on the grill is better than high heat to start.
Take off the grill when desired color is reached, no more than about 6 minutes, you don’t want your shrimp chewy.
Place in your dish with sauce of your choice or place 2 rolls on an appetizer plate with sauce under them.
This is a fast easy recipe that makes quite a few servings and is surprisingly filling for an appetizer
