Hasbro : Family Fun Night – Review

Hasbro

Ok so I am guilty of not spending enough time with my family doing an activity. I know there are other moms like me. We just get so busy with our lives that we forget to spend some quality time with eachother! For me that meant I needed an activity and board games came to mind. We didn’t really have any games, we just never got a collection started. Well,  we have a few to play with now!

The good folks at Hasbro sent us Scrabble Diamond Anniversary Edition, Gator Golf, and the new card game Crazy Old Fish War. The kids immediately wanted to play Gator Golf-

The objective is to get the ball in the gators mouth. When you do it goes through the gator and out by his tail and that tail flips the ball back at you.

(yes it took a lot of attempts to catch the ball in the air!)
Best of all? NO BATTERIES! It was easy to get started and play. The big drawback though is that the clubs really are made for small children so it was hard to have myself or husband or 12 year old son play with my 6 year old daughter. We improvised though, playing on our knees. The baby will be able to have fun with it though when he is older.
Next they tried the card game. I didn’t try this one but Alyssa and Greg did. It plays very much like all the classic card games rolled into one. It was a little confusing for Alyssa but was easy for Greg and Colton. Alyssa isn’t quite 7 yet though and the box said ages 7 and up. All three of them did have fun though!
And then the Scrabble Diamond Anniversary Edition. Greg and I enjoyed this one very much. My favorite was that the tile spaces had sides to them so the tiles don’t slide everywhere. Greg’s favorite part was that it has wheels on the bottom so you can move it easily during gameplay. We thought the board cover looked a little cheap as there were air bubbles in the decal. That’s probably the only drawback. One improvement we suggest is to make an electronic box on the board itself to keep score.

Thank you Hasbro for helping my family start a new tradition of family game night!!
