Not Ready to Let Go
My oldest son is going to be 13 this year. We are no strangers to puberty here. He’s had to wear deoderant since he was 8 and right after he turned 12 he had to start using acne wash. He’s tall, lanky, and a bit clumsy. His voice is lower than I remember. I waited until he was 3 to even think abut giving him a sibling. I am glad I had him alone for all those years to take in everything and learn what being a mom was about. Of course I had the hubby there to help but I am glad we have the memories of him being so little. He is a GREAT big brother to Aiden and he is 11 years older than him. I am not ready for Colton to let go of that. He still pretends a little. He still enlists his little sister to be part of his battalion in the war of the living room.
I know in a matter of a few years its not going to be like this. He will be more into becoming a man and getting ready to drive. He’ll have his first girlfriend. He’ll be staying late after school because of football practice. I hope that he remembers to come home and have fun with his siblings. They are 5 and 11 years younger but oh how they love him and look up to him!
Yes. I am crying now.
