Knowing that I take a lot of photographs, sometimes I am asked what I do with all the images. I fully admit I am terrible about getting them printed. But recently I have really wanted to get the best images bound in books. I have done a photobook review before so I am skeptical that there would be any difference when AdoramaPix asked me to try their book. Adorama is a very well known name in the photography world for outstanding quality in prints. I was given a book in my choice of size and pages. I chose an 8X10 landscape, 26 page book. What I decided to do was print all the photos that Greg and I took last semester during our first ever photography classes. I named it The Magic of Shadows and Light. That’s really what photography is after all!
They have a lot of premade templates but for this one I went full custom without text. That means my whole book is nothing but beautiful photographs. And this particular book is nothing but flowers. The book arrived quickly and the first thing I notice is the binding, its got mine and Greg’s name on it and makes me so proud and happy.
The next thing I did was test the claims that it lays completely flat making for seamless photos that are spread across a page. There are several photos that span the entire two pages in my book and having a crease in the middle would have looked really bad. I was delighted when I saw it layed flat!
But what I think sets this book apart from everyone is the quality of the pages, they are THICK. You can tell they are photos printed on premium paper as opposed to pictures being printed on paper that is like a magazine. For this alone I would pay good money.
My sister-in-law is a professional photographer and she was blown away by this book. She was searching for a long time for a book printer that had thick pages AND didn’t plaster their logo on the book. You won’t find anyone’s name on my book except for the one I put there. I designed the covers, I designed it all.
The process involves signing up at Adoramapix and then you start a new book. They have a few options to add your photos, by computer or even online sites, and then you decide to make a completely blank book or use a template. Its flash based so you don’t have to download any software to use it. It can be slow uploading but I have large image sizes and sometimes sluggish DSL. Overall this is the most positive review to date for a photo book I have tried. Truly outstanding!
Buy It: The prices are really good for the quality of the product. My book was around $44. For 50 pages in the 8X10 size it runs around $75. Excellent value in my opinion, this is professional quality. Go to Adoramapix and start your book today!
