Keeping Baby Busy with Bucky the Turtle Buckle Toy

By on January 16, 2010

What is it with young children always skipping toys and heading for the mechanical things? My Aiden is 15 months and loves to just tinker and figure stuff out. So when we were sent the Buckle Toy Turtle we knew it would be a hit. This turtle has 4 different kinds of buckles to play with. Its too hard for my little guy to open by himself just yet but we don’t mind helping him.

When you get them opened you will see numbers!

And then the turtle’s shell has a secret zipper compartment:

What we loved about this toy is the bright colors and that meant it kept Aiden’s attention for quite a while. He was able to easily do the zipper but the buckles were a little hard for his fat baby fingers. Also at 15 months he doesn’t quite have the dexterity to pinch and pull at the same time. He may be a little too young for the toy but i believe around 18 months or so he will know exactly what to do.

Another thing I love is the company. Jill Gomez, the creator is a mom herself and created this great toy for her son Gavin when she noticed he liked the buckle on his stroller more than his toys. This company isn’t mass producing, and i love small companies coming up with great ideas. They are coming up with other designs too in addition to the turtle and also a square they they have.
