I never had really bad acne until I reached age 30. Not sure what the cause is but I have some flare ups and uneven skin that drives me crazy. A couple months ago I wanted to give Proactiv a try. I’d seen it on TV like everyone else and tons of celebrities endorse it. Stars like Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Avril Lavigne, Julianne Hough and Mandy Moore just to name a few.
Now one thing you may not know about me is that once upon a time I actually sold Mary Kay and Avon so I am no stranger to skin products. Proactiv sent me a sample kit to review for my blog, and I had high hopes!
The system consists of a 3 step cleansing routine used twice a day and a mask used 2-3 times a week, along with moisturizer. A little bit goes a long way even if the bottles were just a few ounces they lasted 4 weeks for me
My thoughts: I had myself, my 13 year old and my husband using this system. For all of us our faces looked worse before they got better but they felt clean and soft to the touch. My acne cleared and my pores got smaller. I went to using it once a day because I found it drying even with moisturizer.
What I liked: Super easy and fast application, not a big deal and it really worked on my acne. I felt as though if I ever had spa treatments, I would imagine thats what my face would feel like, rejuvanated and fresh!
What I didn’t like: Just like with Mary Kay, you can’t skip a step or it won’t work and you have to keep using it. Its pretty expensive long term.
Conclusion: If you suffer from moderate to severe acne, Proactiv is worth the price. You can try it risk free for 60 days or you can buy it, the deluxe system for $29.95 plus s&h and be advised they do enroll you in a 90 days auto shipment.
