Eureka Pet Expert Vacuum Review

By on July 21, 2010 11 Comments

Do you have pets? More to the point, do you have pets that shed a lot? I don’t have pets but my Sister-In-Law brings her dog over every week when she visits and because of some allergies we can’t really have any dog hair anywhere.

Eureka! is a name that has been in the vacuum game for years. I have bloggers I know that mention after 16 years their Eureka‘s still have great suction. Eureka asked me to review their newest vacuum, the Pet Expert. I said of course. I have another vacuum to compare it to, the Hoover Pet Rewind. So without further ado let me introduce you to the new Pet Expert from Eureka!

Aside from the regular upright bagless vacuum features on most modern vacuums these days, this one has an extra function. On the side it has a compartment that holds a brush. This brush will brush away pet hair and for stubborn hair the textured sides of the brush will lift off that pet hair. I enlisted the help of my SIL’s dog, Luckie, who let me follow her around to get some hair. Luckie has fine soft hair so I had to use the textured sides to lift and then swipe.

Here is a short albeit shaky (sorry!) video of the brush and vacuum feature…

The vacuum features a Pet Power Paw™ Power Brush with brushes to loosen the stuff and then its got a very powerful suction. The cord is nice and long (30 ft). The hose can be made longer with the nested attachments but in my opinion its not long enough if you have high ceilings. Its got 12 amps. its very powerful. It comes with a Hepa filter which is pretty standard these days and the dirt cup opens from the bottom easily. And I personally love that its purple!

Pros: This sucker really sucks, in a good way. If you have a pet, this vacuum should take care of shedding hair very easily. Also the price is very reasonable, $120 but its on sale at Best Buy for $99!. Another plus is that the handle is very comfortable.

Cons: Its large and heavy (19.6 pounds). Its not a vacuum you can take up and down stairs at all and its noticeably heavier than my Hoover Pet Rewind. Its also not good for getting into smaller spaces without using the hose.

Summary: For everyday use this is a good powerful vacuum. And its really good if you have pets. I don’t have a pet but I have a SIL who does and I also have a toddler that leaves messes and I have hair that sheds like crazy from my head and this vacuum gets rid of it all. It might be too big for a small apartment but if that apartment has shedding animals then this is a good vacuum for it!

Buy It: Learn more about the Eureka! Pet Expert on the Eureka site. You can buy it online now and in stores at Best Buy and Target for $99.

That pet brush looks like a great tool! I hate putting a shirt on and having dog/cat hair all over it! It seems like it would definitely take care of that problem!

Looks like an incredible vacuum! I would have loved one of these when we had 3 dogs and a cat. We’ll be needing a new vacuum soon, so I’ll be putting this on our list.

If it can clean up pet hair like that, it can clean anything. Right? Cool vacuum, thanks for sharing!

Sounds like a really powerful vacuum. That is what I always look for when buying a vacuum.

Really impressed with the price on this pet hair vacuum. I’ve used the Pet Power Paw on one of Eureka’s other models and it really does work well, particularly on upholstered furniture.

Good review. I happen to own one, bought it last week. I stumbled onto your site because of the photo image, which I used to show a friend. Anyway, the vacuum is amazing. My cats shed like mad, no matter what I do for them. I also have 3 kids, two teens and one tween…None of which cares if they seem to make a mess. LOL Anyway, I thought my carpets were stained to be honest with you, nope not stained, just an a lot of hair. My carpets back to their splendid former appearance, one which is appealing to the eye.

That is awesome! Its does have a really powerful suction and its one of the best vacuums i have tried for hair, not just pet but human as well, I seem to be losing hair like crazy and in general with 5 people there is still a lot of hair. I like it when my SIL brings her car over where her dog has been and she asks to borrow the vacuum because she knows it will clean her car good!

Thanks for the tips because I have an older black lab and he sheds like crazy. The pet power paw looks pretty amazing so I am going to give it a try!
