I don’t know about anyone else but my Aiden is a huge fan of music. ESPECIALLY rhythm. He comes from a very musical family, myself I did a fair bit of choir and Greg and Colton are major guitar players. Alyssa has a gorgeous vibrato at 6 years of age! So this kid was destined to like music in some capacity. We did watch a few Baby Einstein movies with him when he was younger but they just didn’t hold his interest. Juno Baby contacted me and asked me if I would watch their DVD, Juno’s Rhythm Adventure, with Aiden and tell them what I think. I said sure!
Immediately I noticed the different between these and BE videos. This one had emphasized rhythm. And the characters weren’t annoying at all when they sang (Yo Gabba anyone?) and what more important is that it got Aiden’s attention. Now he isn’t old enough to clap to the beat or anything but I could tell his little brain was processing that emphasized beat throughout. This award winning DVD actually grows with the child too because the things they do in the show can be processed at a later date when they understand more. That means I don’t have to have the DVD gathering dust. He will learn different things at different times. And its music which I am very strongly supportive of in kids. I love the DVD more than the BE ones. I can see why it won awards. Its amazing how making music and rhythm can get a child’s attention and help them learn!
Here is a snippet of song from the dvd..you will notice a consistent rhythm through the song and it is emphasized. I think its brilliant.
