Fancy Piggy Back Ride : Kokopax Carrier Review

By on July 11, 2010 Leave a Comment

I have a confession. I don’t have hips. Well I have hips but they are very narrow. I can’t hold my toddler on my hip. And I think he doesn’t care for the hard seat in the shopping cart. I don’t have a fancy shopping cart cover either. I wanted something he could ride in on my back since he is much to heavy for my front. He is a smidge under 25 pounds. Enter Kokopax. They sent me the City carrier in the gumdrop print. Very gender neutral. I can say this. I like this more than my Kelty. I think its because the lumbar strap is wider and more cushioned and I don’t have safety straps in the front. It still has a 5 point harness inside. Its got a handy pocket on the back to hold a few items. It also stands freely on the ground so you can load your child in it and buckle them before lifting it onto your back, which is very useful when you don’t have extra hands to help you load the kiddo in the carrier. Its very simple in design and is very sleek. Its the very reason you can’t judge how well something works by how expensive and complex an item looks.

I would definitely say this carrier is great for running to the market but not if its your big trip. I didn’t adjust the straps tight enough and my shoulders got sore after wearing Aiden for an hour because his weight was pulling. Had I tightened them more he would have been higher. He didn’t care he loves it. He loves looking at the stuff at my level and pats my head like a pet. Its adorable!

Buy It:  The Kokopax City Carrier retails for $99.99. You can buy the Kokopax City Carrier and check their other designs on the Kokopax site or at Amazon.com!
