I was fortunate to test the SodaStream Fountain Jet last fall. I loved it! SodaStream came out with new designs since then and I was again fortunate to test out a newer model, the Genesis. Same function and the Fountain Jet only with a sleeker design. Here is the video of the SodaStream Fountain Jet I took last fall-
This is the genesis, works exactly the same except you don’t have to hold the lever to twist the bottle on.
I have to say that the soda was fine just like before and they have even more flavors, like Grape! I was sent about 9 bottles of syrup this time and aside from the wonderful Energy mix, most of the rest were diet or flavors I didn’t like as much. I prefer the Orange, Root Beer, Cream Soda, non diet variety myself. I did have a chance to try the Lemon Lime though and I kid you not it tasted just like 7 up!
I would like to tell you the Genesis is awesome but unfortunately it ran out of CO2 before I could finish my 2 week review of it. The Fountain Jet still had gas in it where this one ran out. It wasn’t user error. The tank is much too small. I would prefer the larger fountain jet model because the tank is bigger. I contacted Soda Stream about it not working anymore and they offered to call me and talk me through using it but I know I was using it correctly. And now that the both the Genesis and Fountain Jet are out of gas, I have no soda. I can exchange the tanks for new ones though.
Conclusion: Skip the Genesis and go for the Fountain Jet for the bigger tank or buy an extra tank right off the bat!
