What are Tiny Tongs? Glad you asked! Tiny tongs are tiny pint size tongs that grip food for self feeding. They are soft and have grips and they are also safe and BPA free. They work like other tongs you squeeze them around the food and lift!
So as you can see from the above images they are designed to help little ones learn to use utensils. Sort of an in between before they go to forks and spoons. Then as they get older they can still use them. My almost 7 year old daughter has been using Aiden’s. Tiny Tongs sent us one in a green color. We let Aiden get used to looking at it and holding it for a week before we tried it with food. We decided to give him his first bites of taco and try the tongs:
He could hold them correctly but the gripping power, the actual process of closing his hand down, he is still not able to do developmentally. However when we grip the food for him and hand him the tongs he has absolutely no problem getting the food to his mouth
Not only does he LOVE tacos but he also likes using his tiny tongs. I think once he is just a few months older he will be a master of closing the tongs on the actual food. He is able to aim them over the food now so I know he is pretty close. I think I might just have to get a pink pair for my daughter so she will stop stealing Aiden’s! Overall the concept is great and the shape of them lens itself beautifully to little hands. I think this is a great tool in teaching toddlers to use utensils!
