I’ve reviewed a few different brands of shoes on this blog, especially with Aiden, pretty much since he started walking at 14 months. At first he needed soft soled shoes so he could learn to walk okay and then as he got older and developed more, he needed a little more structure. He really needed a shoe that lent itself to the shape of his foot for natural movement. Vincent Shoes stepped up to the plate and allowed us to put them to the test!

A little History behind the brand:

This is Vincent. Vincent Elbaum. Born February 22, 1998, in Stockholm, Sweden. He’s the very reason you are visiting this site as he is the inspiration for the Vincent brand of kids’ shoes. Not bad for a kid his age, we think. How did all this come about, you may wonder?

When Vincent was born, Vincent’s uncle Thomas and partner Patrick went to buy a baby gift for him. They thought shoes would be a good gift – something fun, a little functional, too. These two Swedes, who have been in various areas of the fashion world, Patrick at H&M and Thomas as an international model, couldn’t find anything to suit their tastes. Soon, they were designing a collection of kids’ shoes. It became even more of a family affair as Vincent’s parents joined as managers of this budding business. Just over a year after Vincent’s birth, a store in Stockholm opened, in August 1999, called Vincent Shoe Store, exclusively selling the full range of their children’s shoe designs – all of them fashionably styled and done in high quality materials and construction. Baby Vincent certainly received a gift that keeps on giving. There have been a Spring/Summer and a Fall/Winter collection every year since the debut. Patrick and Thomas derive their inspiration from global trends and the runway fashions of Paris, Milan, London and New York, though the shoes are 100 percent focused on kids. Fall/winter and spring/summer collections both range from soft pre-walkers and comfortable indoor shoes to day and dress shoes as well as boots for girls and boys up to about age 8.

Vincent told me to go to their site and pick a pair of shoes and I chose the Stan, not only because if the looks but also because I thought the name was awesome, Its my Dad’s name and my Uncle’s name!

First and foremost the feature that jumps out on this for me is the absolute quality, I mean right down to the stitching. I fell in love with them before they even went near Aiden’s feet. I would love to show you his feet in them but he is nearly 21 months, and well, he doesn’t really stay in one spot, ever. But I can say this. We couldn’t find these one day and had to resort to some shoes we reviewed in the fall and he couldn’t figure out how to walk in the old shoes. But he RUNS in these. Another great feature is that the Velcro is under the front closure. That makes this particular shoe very very stylish in my opinion. We’ve had these shoes for a couple months now and I can assure you, they really have been tested well. Because it has what I describe as a wraparound “bumper” front to back, they show little to no wear. Most kids don’t like having shoes and socks on at Aiden’s age but he doesn’t mind these at all. These are by far my favorite pair of shoes to date for Aiden.

I would get the Girls Toddler Nancy shoes in the red. I like the toe bumps on the end.
