If you were around this blog in June and then you know I spent a lot of time outside as we had a very large event filled with camping and outdoor fun. It was around that time I was contacted by the folks at Waterford Press. Waterford Press is a company that prints all kinds of reference guides that introduce people to nature, science, travel and language. For my family in particular, we were sent a bunch of guides pertaining to the outdoors. What I really wanted was guides that would help us identify all the animal and insect species around us and especially wildlife native to Michigan.
These guides are not just little pamphlets that can be folded and lost. They are actually thick and glossy, almost a laminated type quality. There is also full color illustrations and clear concise type. There is small description/factoid under each picture. There is what is called a Pocket Naturalist guide which is pocket sized, and there is a Duraguide We happened to be growing our butterflies around the time we received our guides and I was so happy to see the painted ladies in the Bugs and Slugs guide, which for the record, is Aiden’s favorite (not mine its got spiders):
There are a ton of different guides from mammals to how to tie knots, to even a glow in the dark guide to the night sky and so much more. This is definitely a perfect gift for the outdoor person who likes to take a lot of hikes and spends a lot of time with nature. I know my family had a lot of fun identifying the misc. wildlife in our own back yard
