The Benefits of a Musical Education

October 6, 2020 by Mandy

Music brings some joy by just listening or dancing to it. Music has a way of converting your dark days into brighter ones by listening to something that will soothe your soul. Introducing your child to music classes is one of the best things you can do for them. Getting a good music class might seem like it requires enormous efforts, but you can contact music schools, such as Lewis Center Music Academy, to get all of your questions answered about music lessons. There are several reasons why it will be beneficial to them. Some of the benefits are shown below.

Benefits of Music Classes for Kids

It is helpful for a child’s mental health

Sometimes mental health problems, such as anxiety and depression, develop in children, and it’s vital to get away to make them calm down and release all the anxiety in their minds. Because mental health plays a very crucial role in their growth and development, kids need to explore new things and potentials they have. Musical instruments, such as violin and cellos, provide relaxation to senses. To enable your children to enjoy the benefits of musical instruments, you must purchase those of high quality. It is essential to ensure that your kids only get good instruments to ensure that they do not have a difficult time when practicing.

Results in lifelong talents

When you encourage your kids to learn how to play an instrument, you are paving the way for lifelong skills that will stay for the rest of their lives. It is essential to get a qualified teacher who will train your children and assist them to be good at playing musical instruments. Your kids may decide to pursue music when they are teens or adults. Having learned to play musical instruments at a young age will have a huge advantage in their music career. They can even learn to play several instruments at the same time since kids learn easier when a young age.

It is a better option than spending time on screens

Televisions, phones, and laptops are everywhere due to technological advancements. However, they have their advantages and disadvantages. An example shows that computer games help in developing your child’s mind. In contrast, if they spend a lot of time on a computer, they will stop having physical interactions with other children. They will also not be learning other physical skills, like sports or playing an instrument. These interactions are quite beneficial to their growth. Notably, through music classes, kids are able to interact in the music class while learning. When their skills improve, they can join a band or orchestra which might help them in the future. They even can learn how to balance their time between the screen and playing instruments which will reduce monotony.

Music boosts their creativity

Music is a way a person can express their emotions, such as anger and happiness. Besides that, it is a great skill which can be a great alternative in the future. Your child may decide to join a band due to the talent that was instilled in them at a very young age. They are several creative minds that began through music. Allowing your kids to take music classes will improve the chances of being innovators in the future. Also, your child may be talented in singing, and through music classes, they have a chance of improving their talent and beginning their music career at a very tender age.

Enhances their memory

Through learning an instrument at a young age, it can assist the child’s mastering skills. This will be quite beneficial in their studies because they can apply the same techniques in remembering things. Research indicates that through learning music, there is a higher chance of having improved grades in academics in subjects such as math. Besides that, kids gain more confidence after training regularly. This will result in confidence. For example, after practicing many hours and learning the piano, a child will be able to perform before audiences which will enhance their confidence.

Studies also indicate that lifelong musical training has a positive impact on brain development. It is always a good idea to enroll your child in music lessons. It is a future investment in your child’s life.

How to Learn a Foreign Language on Your Own: Quick and Practical Tips

August 17, 2020 by Mandy

Are you trying to learn a foreign language, but aren’t quite sure how to get started?

There’s no doubt that learning a foreign language is hard work. For some languages, getting the basics down can take hundreds of hours of study. Luckily, there are things you can do to speed up the learning process, even if you don’t have a tutor.

Check out this guide to learn how to learn a foreign language on your own.

1. Start With the Most Common Words

When learning a new language, one of the best things to do is to start by learning the most common words.

Not only will this make it easier for you to communicate with others, but it’ll also make your learning process easier. Once you know the most common words, it’ll be easier for you to pick up on what a native speaker is saying.

Oftentimes, to understand a foreign language, you don’t need to know every single word. Rather, you can learn by knowing a handful of words and then figuring out what someone is saying based on context clues.

Plus, it’s a waste of time to learn a bunch of obscure words that you’re only going to end up using once or twice. To figure out the most common words of your target language, just conduct a quick Google search.

2. Watch Movies and TV Shows

Watching movies and TV shows can be helpful when learning a new language, but you need to make sure you’re doing it the right way.

You won’t learn much if you just turn on the subtitles. Likely, you’ll just end up reading the subtitles in English and not really taking anything in. Here’s what we recommend doing instead:

  • First, watch the show through with the subtitles on so you can learn what’s going on
  • Next, watch the show with the subtitles in your target language (ie, if you’re learning Spanish, watch the show in Spanish with Spanish subtitles on)
  • Finally, watch the show without any subtitles

While you may not pick up a lot in terms of vocabulary the first time around, pretty soon, you’ll really start to pick up some new phrases.

3. Converse With Native Speakers

It’s been said many times that immersing yourself in a new language is the best way to learn it. And, this is 100 percent true. However, it’s not always easy to immerse yourself in your chosen language if you’re living somewhere where hardly anyone speaks it.

But, just because you can’t immerse yourself 100 percent doesn’t mean you still can’t get some practice with native speakers. There are many language exchanges, both online and in-person, that can help you out with that.

During a language exchange, you’ll spend some time speaking your native language with the other person, and then you’ll spend some time speaking the language you’re trying to learn. This can be a great way to practice speaking in a non-threatening environment.

While conversing with native speakers is ideal, you can also find a conversation partner in your area who is learning the same language that you are.

4. Start Speaking Right Away

When learning a new language, many people make the mistake of valuing accuracy over fluency. However, if you keep waiting to speak until you know all of the grammar rules perfectly, you’re going to be waiting a long time.

The best way to learn a language is to speak it, so start speaking right away. If you don’t have a language partner you can speak to, no worries- start by speaking to yourself at home!

While it may feel weird at first, the more you speak the language, the more comfortable you’ll be using it in real life.

5. Take Advantage of Online Language Resources

Thanks to the internet, learning a new language is easier than ever. While it used to be that you had to pick up a workbook and dictionary to learn a new language, this is no longer the case.

No matter what your target language is, there are hundreds of online resources out there for you to take advantage of. Here are some ideas:

  • Listen to podcasts
  • Watch videos and tutorials on Youtube
  • Purchase an online language program (this foreign language program is great for those who want to bring a new language into their home)
  • Check out language learning blogs
  • Read the news in a foreign language
  • Use online flashcards
  • Join chat groups on Reddit in a foreign language
  • Follow native speakers on Facebook and Instagram
  • Try a language learning app

As you can see, there are all kinds of language-learning resources right at your fingertips.

6. Reflect On Your Mistakes

Mistakes are your best friend as a language learner. If you’re making mistakes, that means you’re putting yourself out there and trying. As you go about your everyday life practicing your new language, resist the temptation to judge every conversation you have as a failure or success.

Instead, approach each interaction you have as an opportunity to learn. Here are some things you should reflect on after having a conversation in your target language:

  • What new words or phrases did I hear?
  • What words or phrases would have made me a better communicator in this conversation?
  • How could I have a similar conversation more effectively in the future?

By reflecting on your conversations, you’ll set yourself up for success in the future.

Are You Ready to Learn a Foreign Language?

Now that you’ve read these tips, it’s time for you to put your thinking cap on so you can learn a foreign language. Remember, you’re not going to master a new language overnight, so be patient with yourself!

Also, be sure to check back in with our blog for more language-learning tips and tricks.

Make The Law of Attraction Work For You

August 12, 2020 by Mandy

You’ve probably heard about the magic of the Law of Attraction. That by sending out the right thoughts you will get and achieve what you want. That you can have a rich, successful, life. And you can. People using it have those things.

But what is it? How does it work? And, more importantly, how can you make the Law of Attraction work for you?

The Law of Attraction

The history of the Law of Attraction is shrouded in mystery. Some say asking when the Law of Attraction started is like asking when gravity began. It just is and always has been.

Its concepts can be found in areas such as the 19th Century New Thought Movement which birthed many great, almost biblical in stature, self-help books, like Wallace Wattle’s ‘The Science of Getting Rich’, and Napoleon Hill’s ‘Think and Grow Rich’.

More recently Rhonda Byrne and Jen Sincero brought the idea back into the light with their books ‘The Secret’ and ‘You Are A Badass: How To Stop Doubting Your Greatness And Start Living An Awesome Life’.

There are even a host of celebrities who live the Law of Attraction principles. People like Oprah Winfrey, Jim Carrey, Will Smith, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Denzel Washington. And you can’t argue with their success.

What Is The Law Of Attraction?

Put simply, it is about like attracting like. It is about manifesting your dreams into reality. It is the idea that by having the right positive thoughts you will attract positive things into your life. The opposite is also true. Think negatively, experience negative things.

How Does The Law Of Attraction Work?

Obviously making the Law of Attraction work for you is a little more nuanced than the simple like-attracts-like may indicate. Getting and maintaining the right frame of mind, the right energy, can be quite difficult.

Pay attention to your thoughts. Watch how quickly they can take on a negative tone. You may be surprised. Maintaining the right positive frame of mind, the right outlook and attitude, can be difficult at times.

Most of us have some sort of mental block to positivity, or thoughts of abundance. Maybe we have a sacristy mentality. We may have mental blocks so ingrained we’re not even be completely aware of them.

For the Law to work. You need to do some work on your mind and ways of thinking. How it works, and its benefits, are summed up succinctly by inspirational author Shannon L Alder:

“When you are joyful, when you say yes to life and have fun and project positivity all around you, you become a sun in the centre of every constellation, and people want to be near you.”

The Law of Attraction sounds great. It works. But as was asked at the start, and what you probably really want to know, is how to make the Law of Attraction work for you.

There are lots of books out there about it. Reading the right books certainly helps maintain the right positive thoughts. But is reading enough?

Think about it for a second. What do we normally do when wishing to learn something new? We get someone to teach us. Someone with knowledge, experience, and a talent for getting the best out of you.

Why should learning about the Law of Attraction be any different? Having a great guide or mentor, an expert coach, will help you clear your mental blocks and put you on the path of manifesting your true potential, achieving the things you want to achieve, and ultimately living the life you’ve always wanted for yourself.
